Electrical Testing & Tagging Training Courses

With the introduction of inspection and testing of electrical equipment in the workplace more & more businesses are having  their staff trained to carry out this task. This is not only cost effective, especially for organisations that have a large number of appliances, but also reduces the risk of non-compliance which can involve substantial fines.

There are a number of Registered Training Organisations that deliver a Nationally Recognised Training course from the "Electrotechnology Training Package" being the unit UEENEEP008B:  'Conduct in-service safety testing of electrical cord assemblies and cord connected equipment'.

Plug Top Replacement

In some States you maybe required to have been trained and assess and found to be competent to fit a plug and or a socket on an electrical appliance or leads if you are not electrically qualified.

For example:

NSW WorkCover's guide to Testing and Tagging of Electrical equipment states "Plugs and extension sockets may be replaced by a non-electrically qualified person provided the person has been trained, assessed and found to be competent to fit plugs and sockets according to the manufacture's instructions."

NSW Electrical Test & Tagging have developed a course to satisfy the requirements of WorkCover NSW for the replacement of single phase plug tops and sockets on extension leads and appliances by non electrically qualified persons. The course duration is approximately 2.5 to 3 hours and covers a multitude of plug and sockets, ingress protection and tips. It is a requirement that a person attending this course must have successfully completed a recognised electrical test and tagging course.
